~ FYI ~

Ilse Box Long and Liz Burton Rogers visited the Medical Lake SD Administration Office on June 8 and had a wonderful visit with the office staff and then Mr. Brown walked in and we had lovely visit with him. He is going to try to attend Friday night’s event as he has responsibilities on the other side of the state during the weekend. Received a note from Sunshine Millhorn and Mr. Kyle and they will be unable to attend. If you have kept in contact with our former teachers please invite them to the reunion. We would love to see them.
Please let me know if you will be attending the MLHS Grads Org business meeting/brunch on Sunday July 25, 2004 at the Holiday Inn. Very important meeting please plan to attend.

F.A.F.B. TOUR

The Fairchild AFB tour will be held on Friday, May 23, 2004 and everyone should meet at the Holiday Inn so we can cut down on the number of cars and provide rides for those who need them, to the base. Fairchild will provide a bus for our tour of the base. Again, thank you Carolyn Allen Denton ’64 for bringing this “free” tour together.

Memorial Table at Reunion

If you have pictures and postings that you like added to our memorial display please let me know. We will locate this area in a quiet place in the pavilion.

Anita Box mother of Fern Box McMillan and Ilse Box Long ’64 passed away June 11, 2004 in Spokane, Washington. I had the pleasure of staying in her home just days before her passing. She was a dynamic, loving person and an avid dancer and choir member. She will be missed. Our love and sincere condolences to Ilse and Fern. Flowers were sent on behalf MLHS Grads and classmates. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Concordia Choir or the German-American Society both at 25 W. 3rd Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.

Planning Committee Meeting Scheduled for July 1, 2004 in Ellensburg

The R.O.D. planning team will meet again in Ellensburg to review final details and discuss each event. I need to know are you “getting acquainted” at the Wagon Wheel or Holiday Inn? Let me know!

Ads and Contributions-Very Important

We have been working on obtaining contributions and donations for the Silent Auction and Susan Baker Yates works for a company that will contribute food items for the baskets. If you would like to contribute to the auction or the reunion please email me at mail@mlhsgrads.org or call the message line 509-467-1988. We are selling ads for the Memory Book. If you own a business and would like to place an ad let us know. Our prices are affordable and we can use all the support out there for this. We can email or send the information.

Individual Event Tickets

The planning team decided the cost per event will be Friday $25.00 ~ Saturday Picnic $25.00 and the Saturday Night Gala $70.00.  These are individual ticket prices only.  You can prepay or come to the Holiday Inn on Friday night and purchase your individual ticket. We need to know if you are planning to attend an individual event due to the type of tickets we are going to use. You can see it will be more convenient to register for the entire reunion.

For the year 1954 it will be the 50th anniversary of high school graduation and for 1964 the 40th anniversary. Time flies when you are having fun they say!

Come on you Cardinals to the Reunion of the Decades
July 23rd, 24th and 25th 2004.

WE NEED ALL QUESTIONNAIRES RETURNED EVEN IF YOU AREN’T PLANNING TO ATTEND!

LOCATING MEMBERS

Please continue to locate and inform as many members of our classmates as possible before this BIG reunion. Encourage those that are unsure to register for at least the Friday night event... They will be glad they did. Let’s All Pitch In and Help so we can all experience a wonderful gathering of friends and fellow classmates in an unforgettable three days.

There are still many out there that have no idea there is going to be a reunion-let’s get them on board. Also if you know where a former teacher is located tell them AND tell us. We still have time!!!!

WE are so thrilled to have

playing at our gala. They are awesome and so tuned into our generation/music. No pun intended ha ha. If you visit the website and click on their picture you can hear a sample of what is in store for us. They are a great group of folks and please take the time to greet them when you are at the hotel and at the gala. I think they are as excited about this reunion as we are. Charlie Hollis, bandleader, told me they haven’t done a “rock ‘n roll road trip” in about 15 years. They perform in and around Tacoma, Washington and gave us a great deal ~ just couldn’t pass it up!!!

We still need the words to the Cardinal fight song and the other one using the tune "On Wisconsin".  Maybe they were both the same I don't remember!! Come on you former jocks and cheerleaders help us out!!!

So far we have about 150 attending…our projection was 300; 30 from each class, but this number is a good start and who knows registrations are still coming in!!

With anxious anticipation-
Liz and the R.O.D Planning Team

Classmates Updates:

Lois Wilson McEwan 1959
I received an email from Del Wilson Ryan about her sister, Lois Wilson McEwan 1959, husband’s death in May 2004. Our sincere condolences to Lois and her family.

Dave Heafner 1965 Associate
I also received an email from Dave Heafner who would have graduated from MLHS in 1965 but family moved and moving as most of us know took place even if we didn’t want it to happen. Dave lives in Lake Elsinore area in Southern California and he wrote back regarding attending the reunion… “The recent Lake Elsinore fire in Southern California burned my property, and I am very deeply involved in repairs. Two weeks later (this was May 17); I still don't have the wells restored, so it appears to be moving at a snail's pace. Thank the Lord; we saved the house, and most of the personal contents. Clearing the rest of the burned things will take several months. Not sure I can afford to take the time away at present.”

Harold Inman 1967
His father passed away in June 2004. Mr. Brown shared this info with me on my last trip to Spokane/Medical Lake. The funeral was in the Spokane area. I still haven’t made contact with Harold as yet.

Ron Adams 1963
Had heart surgery in March 2004 (hope that is correct). He is doing “just great” when I talked to him recently.

Karen Goeden Fuller 1962 Associate
…”I had a heart attack in mid March and had to have a stent implanted. Came home from the hospital and was doing pretty well. Then, on May 29th (My 40th wedding anniversary!) I ended up in the hospital again needing emergency surgery for Diverticulitus and just got home this past Monday. I will need more surgery for this either the end of July or mid August. So, needless to say, I won't be able to do any traveling. I had so looked forward to attending as the last one I went to did not attack a huge crowd and there were lots of classmates I would enjoy seeing this time. But, life has a way of interrupting our plans.”
